Gruesome, NSFW Concept Art From 'Prometheus' Reveals Chest Bursting Scene

Ridley Scott's Prometheus is now on Blu-ray and, with it, come hours and hours of behind the scenes footage and revelations. None of it has been incredibly enlightening – most of our burning questions about the film remain unanswered – but there's still a ton of excellent content that's being revealed. One such revelation was that in Jon Spaiths' original script, before Damon Lindelof came on board, an alien was supposed to burst out of Holloway's chest while having sex with Shaw. Now, a piece of concept art detailing that scene has come online.

Be aware, not only is it gruesome, it features nudity and is not safe for work. Check it out below.

While the image is striking and memorable, I'm more intrigued by the nature of the alien bursting out of his chest. It almost looks like a Face Hugger, but it's likely supposed to be the same alien thing that Shaw eventually has surgically removed from her body (above). That, of course, was transfered to her through sex so you begin to see how the alien evolution changed in the script. It started as more of a parasite and became something that needed a human, motherly, touch.

Obvious connections to the original series, such as chest bursters like this, were eventually removed from Prometheus to keep its links to the Alien franchise more ambiguous. Whether or not that was the right decision is still up for debate.

Do you wish this scene was still in the film or is Shaw's alien birth better or even gorier?
