First Look: Russell Crowe As Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah' [Updated With High-Res]

Director Darren Aronofsky joined Twitter in January, and since the start of production on his current film Noah, which stars Russell Crowe as the biblical character who builds a massive ark, he's been sending out guarded glimpses of the Iceland shoot. Recently he tweeted that the first real look at Noah was coming up, and now in an article about, appropriately, his use of Twitter, we've got the first shot of Crowe in the film.

Update: We've added a wider crop of the image in much higher resolution.USA Today has this image, which, free of any real context from the film's story, mostly looks a good bit like Russell Crowe. Still, I'll take it:Noah also features Jennifer Connelly as Noah's wife, Naameh; Ray Winstone as antagonist Tubal-Cain; Emma Watson as Noah's adopted daughter, Ila; Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah; and Douglas Booth and Logan Lerman as his sons, Shem and Ham.Madison Davenport just joined the cast, as Na'el, aka the Biblical figure Na'eltama'uk, the wife of Noah's son Ham (Lerman). And Mark Margolis, who has been in all of Aronofsky's films beginning with his significant role in Pi, is also confirmed to be part of the cast as well.

We've seen tweeted images of a giant set built to be the Ark, and hints from Aronofsky that the nephilim play a part in the story. They may be what HitFix described from a script report as "the Watchers, eleven-foot-tall fallen angels with six arms and no wings. They have a major presence in the script, and they're fascinating."
