Concept Art For Unproduced Blur Studio LEGO Animated Film

In 2014, a movie based on the popular LEGO toys will be in theaters, written and directed by 21 Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The road to that started several years ago when Warner Bros. took pitches from companies hoping to earn that same opportunity. Now one of rejected ideas has been revealed.

The pitch was from animation house Blur Studio, who've worked on games and movies such as Batman: Arkham City, The Force Unleashed, Avatar and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The company's idea followed a LEGO man going out into the human world. After the jump, read more about the story and check out some additional concept images.

The images first popped up on Kotaku and are by artist Sean McNally and Blur's Jeff Fowler. Check them out here.

According to Kotaku, the movie was about "a young LEGO minifig leaving his small LEGO town behind to go on an adventure in the human world. Along the way, he runs into all kinds of LEGO settings and characters who are scattered throughout the real world, like post-apocalyptic scavengers hunting for batteries and pirates battling giant...bath toys."

While that pitch had humans in it, Lord and Miller, who'll co-direct the actual film with Robot Chicken's Chris McKay, recently said their movie is set in all-LEGO word about the following:

It involves many worlds. Basically, the least qualified Lego characters in the universe having to keep the world from being frozen together.

The scope of the Blur Studio production looks incredibly huge and cool but, if Warner Bros. passed on it, I'm sure the film we'll eventually see will be even better. Or at least that's what you'd hope.

What do you think of the images? Would you have liked to see a Blur Studio LEGO movie?
