VOTD: Little Kids React To Darth Vader's Big 'Empire Strikes Back' Reveal

Darth Vader's revelation to Luke Skywalker at the end of The Empire Strikes Back is probably one of the biggest and most famous reveals in all of movies. Despite the fact that the prequels completely negate the surprise, most of us still remember the utter shock we felt when one of the scariest villains of all time dropped this huge bomb on our hero. (Yes, I'm purposely tip-toeing around a spoiler from a movie that's 30 years old.) We were the fortunate ones who got to experience the films from Episodes IV-VI before seeing I-III and are better for it. Now, with the new Blu-rays breaking all sorts of sales records, a whole new generation is getting their first look at the (sort of) original films and one father decided to film his kids' reaction to the moment of moments. It's very cute. Check it out below.

The question people seem to be raising is, is this video real? I say "Yes." Of course, on the Internet we're trained to be cynical and suspicious of anything that seems too good too be true but there are several reasons why this feels real. First of all, the reaction isn't that good. If the kid (a four-year-old named Faris) jumped up and down, ran around screaming and his head spun around like something out of The Exorcist, I would say "fake." But he doesn't. He just puts his jaw on the floor. Plus his sister doesn't really overreact, she's just engaged in the film and ready to see what's next.

Assuming it is real, it's really cool to see pure reactions to this fantastic moment in movie history. George Lucas should take note of how, 30 years later, these two kids can sit, glued to their couch, totally into this fantastic film. Now if only the Dad would post their reaction to Jar Jar stepping in poo in Episode I.
