'Conan The Barbarian' Trailer

The first teaser trailer for the new Conan the Barbarian was dreadfully uninspiring. Made up of smoke and spare glimpses of footage, it played like Lionsgate and Millennium were trying to hide something. Now the full trailer is out, and there's definitely no hiding anything here. The movie looks more or less as you'd expect it to look, but there might be some fun adventure within. Check out the trailer after the break.

There's some good here, like the flashes of magic and the slightly weird character and set design that we glimpsed in early photos. I like Jason Momoa's Conan, at least as we see him in brief flashes through the prism of a trailer edit. There appears to be that combination of intelligence and brutality that Robert E. Howard fans want to see. And some of the fighting looks harsh and muscular, which is great. Stephen Lang? Yeah, I'll take him as the over the top villain. But please, less spinning, flying Conan. Not every movie needs to resemble The Matrix and the legion of action films it inspired.

Also, the original Conan had a snake — this has snakes. Or a massive tentacled mollusk of some sort.

Finally, can you even recognize Rose McGowan as the sand-blowing witch Mariq? And what are your thoughts on this one overall? I'm ready to give Marcus Nispel and the new cast a chance.

Yahoo has the blood, sweat and sand in HD.

A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.
