Movie Trailer #2: 'Gulliver's Travels'

Trading satire for slapstick, Jack Black is the new Gulliver in Gulliver's Travels, a film made to tap into the same audience that made Night at the Museum a hit. We've seen one trailer for Gulliver's Travels which, frankly, looked horrible. Now there's a second, in which we at least get to see more of co-stars Jason Segel and Emily Blunt. Watch it after the break.

Your appetite for this film is very likely going to exist in direct proportion to how much patience you have for Jack Black's broadest comedy. For me, that means that this looks significantly less entertaining than the Night at the Museum films — a super-sized wedgie joke is pretty much setting the bar here –  but your mileage may vary.

I get the Star Wars references, and I'm not even particularly put off by the giant iPhone product placement. But why is there a miniature version of Kiss? (And why couldn't it be Mini Kiss?) And where did a Liliputian get a Shogun Warrior? Or whatever that robo-suit is. [Moviefone]

In a contemporary re–imagining of the classic tale, Jack Black stars as Gulliver, a big–talking mailroom clerk who, after he's mistakenly assigned a travel piece on the Bermuda Triangle, suddenly finds himself a giant among men when he washes ashore on the hidden island of Lilliput, home to a population of very tiny people. At first enslaved by the diminutive and industrious Liliputians, and later declared their hero, Gulliver comes to learn that it's how big you are on the inside that counts.

Gulliver's Travels hits theaters on December 22, 2010.
