Trailer: 'Avatar Extended Collector's Edition' Blu-Ray, Reveals Future Earth Opening
A trailer for the November 16th release of Avatar Extended Collector's Edition has found its way online and, in it, we get our first glimpse of the exclusive, alternative Earth opening that can only be found on the 3-disc set. This set is beyond epic and totally makes up for the bare bones, albeit it beautiful, Blu-ray and DVD release we got a few months back. "I told our team — let's do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want," James Cameron said in a press release. "There's an extended length cut that's sixteen minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set." Part of the "extended length cut" is this opening, which will surely help give the film even more scope. Hit the jump to check out the trailer and once again look at the incredible amount of features on this disc.
Here's the trailer for the Blu-ray with the extended footage.
One of the issues I had with Avatar when it was first released was that you never really knew what was at stake back on Earth. Well, even from the brief glimpse here, it looks like a very Philip K. Dick, dystopian, Blade Runner type existence which makes the lush world of Pandora seem that much more important. Point made.
