Neil Marshall To Direct Underground, A Horror Film About...Underground Supper Clubs?
Briefly: What could be further from Centurion, the bloody action film from director Neil Marshall? How about Marshall making a film set in the world of underground supper clubs? Yeah, you read that right. Underground, scripted by David Cohen, is a horror / thriller set in the "world of gourmet underground supper clubs."
Now, I have a really close friend who runs one of Atlanta's bigger supper clubs, but having spent a lot of time in that circle, I've never even thought about using that as a setting for a horror thriller — the biggest horror is usually whether the soup is going to be any good. But maybe throw some evil competition in there, some cannibalism (fingers crossed for cannibalism!) and things could get fun. And since these things are all unregulated, anyway, there's plenty of opportunity for weird illegal stuff to go down. And it's got to be better than Eat the Rich. (But will it have a Motorhead theme song?) Still, I just have one question: where's Paul Bartel when you need him? [Deadline]
