Movie Trailer: Tony Scott's Unstoppable

/Film reader Eddie R has sent us a link to the previously unreleased movie trailer for Tony Scott's upcoming action drama Unstoppable. I've been wondering with 20th Century Fox would start promoting this film as it is scheduled to hit theaters in just three months, and no publicity materials had yet been released (not a poster or even a photo). The trailer makes the film look pretty intense, although I've heard that it is more of a drama than a thriller.

The film stars Chris Pine, Denzel Washington, and Rosario Dawson in a story scripted by Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard, Deception, Race to Witch Mountain) loosely inspired by true events. The film tells the story of  an experienced engineer (Washington) who finds himself teaming up with a young conductor (Pine) in a race against time, with a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. The duo chase the runaway train in a separate locomotive and need to bring it under control before it derails on a curve and causes a toxic spill that could decimate a town.

Someone on IMDb claims to have seen a test screening of the movie last month. Here are some excerpted quotes:

"I must say, the movie was fantastic except for the ending, it seemed a bit sappy and not at all following the general feel and pace of the movie. The footage was spectacular, the majority of it being free movement, but I have vertigo so it made me a feel a little queasy at times. One element of the unfinished CGI had the crowd in a roaring laughter. he acting was great, but this is just coming from a normal movie goer so I cant give you a critical analysis. As for the camera movement, yes, it was in that style."

Previously:

The project has gone under two previous titles: Runaway Train and 8888, named after the CSX locomotive model number, often referred to as "Crazy Eights" because of two separate incidents in Ohio, one a derailment, the other a runaway train the film is loosely based on.

A runaway freight train traveled 70 miles with no one at the controls for nearly two hours before rail workers were able to slow it down by latching a second engine to the end of the train and applying the brakes. While two of the train's tank cars contained thousands of gallons of the hazardous material molten phenol acid, the runaway train itself was considered more of a threat than the chemicals on board.

Unstoppable hits theaters on November 12th 2010.
