Teaser Trailer: Yogi Bear
Earlier today there was a poster for the new film version of Yogi Bear (in 3D!); now there's a teaser trailer that continues the trend of rather terrible character design, but bolsters it with a really weird-looking mix of live action and CGI animation. Smart move on Warner Bros.' part, releasing the poster and trailer separately so as to get extra coverage out of the materials. Check out the trailer below, and be prepared to never want to venture into a State Park again.
Dan Aykroyd introduces the teaser, and right off we see Anna Faris looking terribly uncomfortable about her decision to take this job. But what the hell, it's a movie for kids, so I'm not going to worry about it much. And while Aykroyd's performance as Yogi is way off, Justin Timberlake sounds OK as Boo Boo.Yahoo has the teaser in HD.
Jellystone Park has been losing business, so greedy Mayor Brown decides to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors — and, even worse, Yogi and Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they've ever known. Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is "smarter than the average bear" as he and Boo Boo join forces with their old nemesis Ranger Smith to find a way to save Jellystone Park from closing forever.
Warner Bros. will release Yogi Bear on December 17th. The only vague saving grace about this release is that it will also feature Rabid Rider, the third of three new 3D Looney Tunes shorts. I've heard from a couple sources that the first two shorts are pretty good, so maybe those three minutes will be worth seeing Yogi Bear? No, probably not.
