Seventh 'Saw' Film Now Titled...Wait For It... 'Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive'
UPDATE: Today STYD spoke to Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules, and Burg clarifies, "The title of the movie is Saw 3D." According to Koules, "The Traps Come Alive...[is] a tagline that was added in and misinterpreted. Most of our movies have taglines. One of the things we talked about during the campaign – especially with shooting in the 3D process, the traps really do come alive and we wanted that clear in the campaign. But the title of the film is Saw 3D." Well, that's too bad. Original article follows.
Because I'd hate for you to miss something as great as a Saw sequel just because of a title change, I present this news report. (If there was a blinking sarcasm HMTL tag to apply to that first sentence, I'd use it.)
We'd presumed a couple of different titles for the seventh film in the Saw series and the first one to be filmed in 3D. You know, something simple like Saw VII or Saw 3D. But the title is now — and this is confirmed with LionsGate by STYD — Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive. All I can say is, if the traps do not in fact come alive, like the little toys in Xtro, I'm going to be wildly disappointed.
The film stars Tobin Bell, Cary Elwes, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell and Sean Patrick Flannery, and was directed by Kevin Greutert from Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton's script. It tells how "a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy and a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror."
