Clash Of The Titans International Trailer: Behold The Fury Of Zeus And Hades
We've seen a couple trailers for the Louis Leterrier remake of Clash of the Titans, but they've been mostly monster and action shots so far, seemingly aimed at those who know the original film. A teaser isn't meant to give any indication of story, so we'll give that one a pass, but watch the first full length trailer and you'll see little that gets across any story besides, "hey, monsters! BIG monsters!" Now there is a new international trailer that takes a moment to get across a few of the plot points that set all those monsters in motion.
IGN has the new trailer, embedded below. It opens with what seems to be Ralph Fiennes' old man voice, as Hades begins the narration from the underworld. Something about the mortals needing to pay — an old god's 'get off my lawn!' sort of line. A couple more voiceover lines sketch in what seems to be a war between gods and humans. But don't expect that Zeus (Liam Neeson) is really proclaiming a war against humanity as a whole. Is his dialogue in this trailer taken out of context to make things seem a bit more simple than they are? Probably, based on the full synopsis below.
We also see Gemma Arterton as Io, a godlike life coach that helps Persues along. After that the trailer kicks into footage that we're pretty familiar with at this point: monsters, Perseus and more monsters.
We're still waiting to see evidence of this successful conversion of Clash of the Titans from 2D into 3D; the film's release has reportedly been pushed back to accommodate that conversion. I'm holding firm to a plan to see this one in 2D, but I'll be curious to see evidence of how the tech has worked out for Warner Bros.
The synopsis, then the trailer:
In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.
