New International Poster For Inglourious Basterds

Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds already has a handful of great domestic one-sheets, but now it has an international (Italian, to be exact) poster that is strives to keep with the images used to sell movies that inspired Tarantino to make his new war picture. Premiered on BadTaste.it, the image combines character portraits with a smear of blood, and continues to suggest that this is just a big fun Tarantino war movie. Which, of course, it isn't. But hey, close enough.

Look at some of the original images used to promote Enzo Castellari's Inglorious Bastards and you'll see a bit of similarity to the new image. (I'm surprised this needs to be mentioned at this point, but that's the source from which QT borrowed the name for this movie, and almost nothing else — this is not a remake of Castellari's movie at all, despite what I've seen written today.) You could also look at just about any '70s war b-movie picture and see a certain vague similarity to this image. So the marketing guys have done a decent job. And you've got to assume that Tarantino is happy just to see his movie's title get a great-sounding Italian translation.
