/Film Arrives At Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston)

The Somerville Theater is one of the most kickass theaters in Boston. In addition to housing a wonderful, 900-seat auditorium, it typically has an excellent selection of mainstream hits and arthouse classics alike (It's also one of the only theaters in Massachusetts that's allowed to sell alcohol). But this week, it will have something else going for it: Along with the Brattle Theater, Coolidge Corner, and Institute of Contemporary Art, the Somerville Theater will be showing a slate of amazing films as part of the Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston). Now in its seventh year, IFFBoston is quickly becoming one of the premiere places to see the best indie films in the country.

You can check out the whole film schedule by going to their website, but suffice it to say that a lot of amazing films are on tap (e.g. 500 Days of Summer, Best Worst Movie, Bronson, Big Fan, In The Loop, The Escapist, We Live in Public, and The Brothers Bloom, the latter of which opened the festival this evening). Over the course of the next week, I'll be doing my best to bring you reviews of the most-anticipated films, along with some audio interviews with the filmmakers. If you're going to be in the area and/or catching a few screenings, feel free to let me know at davechensemail(AT)gmail(DOT)com.
