Cloverfield/1-18-08 Photo #6 Revealed

The Cloverfield/1-18-08 viral campaign started with a bang. But recently we've heard nothing from the JJ Abrams produced monster flick, until now. A sixth photo has now been discovered on the 1-18-08.com viral website. The photo pictures a japanese chef displaying some kind of food dish on a pan. If you play around with the photo with your mouse, you can flip it over to reveal this:

Hinoai from Unfiction took the time to translate the above, which appears to be a recipe written in Japanese:

    Everybody, thank you for viewing! I'll introduce this week's delicious recipe. Please make sure to keep this one cold!

* Skinless chicken breast – 2, cut in halves

* Sōmen noodles – 10 oz.

* Watercress – 1/2 cup cut into small strips

* Turnip – 1/2 cup, thinly sliced

* Shiitake Mushrooms – 1/2 cup

* Chicken stock – 1/3 cup

* Sake – 2 tbsp.

* Sugar – 1/2 tsp.

* Deep-sea crab – one

In a small saucepan, stir together 1/3 cup water, chicken stock, sake, and sugar. Chill it until it becomes cold. Grill the chicken breast on both sides for about 8 minutes, and then chill. Boil the noodles for about 3 minutes, and then run under cold water until chilled. Mix the watercress, turnips, and mushrooms into the sōmen. Slice the chicken thinly and arrange on top of the sōmen mix. Just before you serve, put the crab in the sauce and pour over the noodles generously.

Sea CrabCloverfieldClues points out that Deep-sea crab makes an appearance in the Slosho.jp history page. So what do I think this means? I really have no idea. Until now all the photos appear to have come from the events to be shown in the film. The new photo offers no timecode, and offers a character we have never seen before. I do find it interesting that aside from the Slusho t-shirt seen in the trailer, this is the first real link-up with a japanese storyline which has been hinted by the Slusho.jp viral site. Oh and yeah, Rob was going to Japan (but how vital can that be to the story, really...). But it will be interesting to see how much Slusho or Japan play into the storyline.
