Latest Nicolas Cage Career Blunder: The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in, get this, a live-action feature film adaptation os Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice.  Yeah, that's gonna be entertaining...

Cage has always been one of those actors that has an odd selection of acting jobs. Sometimes he'll do some incredible movies, and other times it seems like even a blind man could tell him the resulting project will suck.

THR Reports:

"Sorcerer" is being envisioned as a tentpole fantasy adventure set in contemporary New York, where a powerful sorcerer is in need of an apprentice. Cage would play the sorcerer.

And what's worse: the creative talent behind the flick are as untalented as they get. Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal are writing the screenplay. Respectively the duo has been part of Flicka, Planet of the Apes, Might Joe Young, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. There is no director yet attached (I wonder why...). May-be Brett Ratner would do it? I mean, he'll do anything.

The movie takes its inspiration from Johann Wolfgang Goethe's original poem, which was the inspiration for the classic Mickey Mouse animated sequence from Disney's Fantasia.

Let's pretend this never happened, and ignore the resulting film when it gets released. Sounds like a plan.
