Al Gore To Announce Presidential Run At Academy Awards?
If someone told me a five years ago that Al Gore would somehow become a universally liked personality (ie non-robot), in line for an Academy Award, Nobel Peace Prize, and another run for president, I probably would have laughed in your face. But it appears the world has changed their opinion on the former Vice President.
So the question becomes: Will Gore announce his presidential run at the Academy Awards?
The possibility didn't occur to me until I read Nikki Finke's editorial on Deadline Hollywood Daily. However, Finke claims that a politician close to the former Vice President has assured her that it won't happen. But imagine if it did. Talk about real life movie moments. It would probably destroy Michael Moore's loudmouth comments from years past, ensuring it's place in Academy Award history forever.
But the possibility of an Oscar night announcement originated from the following quote:
"Wait till Oscar night. I tell people: 'I'm dating. I haven't fallen in love yet,'" said Gore's 2000 presidential campaign manager Donna Brazile reguarding which candidate she's supporting. "If Al Gore has slimmed down 25 or 30 pounds, Lord knows."
Sounds like she might know something. Who knows, I might even vote for the guy who invented the internet.
