In just a couple weeks, The House will be open for business as the R-rated comedy starring Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler hits theaters. The film follows two suburban parents faced with the prospect of having no money to send their daughter to college, so their friend Frank (Jason Mantzoukas) helps them open an illegal, underground casino in his house for a month in order to make enough money to afford tuition.
Instead of just quickly making the money, Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler take to the casino business like a couple characters in a Martin Scorsese movie, and when the casino starts getting the attention of local authorities and crime bosses, they find that they’re completely out of their league. You can see more of the shenanigans in the comedy in The House TV spots, now featuring Jeremy Renner. Read More »
Making time for a night out on the town can be difficult when you’re exhausted by the suburban lifestyle of going to work and driving the kids around everywhere. But what if you could experience the luxury of Las Vegas without leaving your perfect little neighborhood? It’s not a dream anymore, because Frank’s Place is here.
Frank’s Place is the illegal, underground casino from this summer’s comedy The House that Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler start in order to make enough money to send their daughter to college after they realize they’ve wasted all the money they had intended to save for her. Jason Mantzoukas (who plays Frank) gives us a guided tour of the casino and all its glorious accommodations, which includes five-star dining, a kick-ass pool and handjobs.

Now that blockbuster summer is in full swing, I’ve been wondering what the hit comedy of the season is going to be. Snatched has arrived and it doesn’t seem to be nearly as good as Trainwreck. Most people might say Baywatch is the next best option, but with all we’ve seen so far, I don’t think it’s going to deliver. Rough Night has the potential to break out as well, but I’m still on the fence with it. There’s The Big Sick, which we know brings the goods, but that’s a lower key release and even though it’s hilarious, it’s not a straight-up big studio comedy. But after seeing a new red band trailer for one of our summer comedy options, I’m ready to place my bet.
The House stars Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler as a couple who find themselves in the unfortunate position of having squandered their teenage daughter’s college fund just as she’s graduating high school. So what’s the best way to make sure she doesn’t end up a homeless stripper? Start an underground casino with hilarious results.

The summer season is almost upon us and you know what that means: movies are about to get bigger, louder, and more expensive. And, if we’re lucky, they’ll also be pretty great!
The /Film team examined the list of every single major wide release (our indie and streaming preview arrives next week) hitting theaters this summer and argued, debated, and occasionally agreed on which 25 movies we’re most looking forward to watching over the coming months. The staff then voted, ranking them from “movies we want to see” to “movies we want to see right now.” So here’s our 2017 summer movie preview, which features superheroes, evil dolls, talking cars, pirates, sharks, dead strippers, World War II, and so much more.

The House basically looks like Casino by way of the writers of Neighbors (Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien). Jason Mantzoukas serves as the catalyst for this totally outlandish and unrealistic idea, and he looks like he’s going to be the MVP in this entire endeavor.
