Good lord, Ridley Scott, can you chill? Scott, who is 83-years-old, just wrapped filming The Last Duel and is already deep into shooting his next movie House of Gucci. You’d think he might want to take a breather, but no – he’s already planning his next feature film Kitbag, and is attached to produce a whole slew of titles. And now he’s gone ahead and added one more to the list: Roads to Freedom, a 10-episode World War II epic that he’s making with writer Steven Knight. Robert Zemeckis has just lined up his next project and he’s bringing along one of the biggest movie stars in the world. Brad Pitt will co-star in a currently-untitled “sweeping romantic thriller” directed by Zemeckis and written by Steve Knight. Early reports are that the film is set during World War II. Jeff Bridges trains an apprentice in the ways of dark magic to fight an evil witch played by Julianne Moore…and I’m sold. That’s the plot to Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Seventh Son, directed by Sergei Bodrov (Mongol) and written by Matt Greenberg, Charles Leavitt and Steve Knight from the book The Spook’s Apprentice by Joseph Delaney. It just went into production aimed at a February 8, 2013 release date and Legendary revealed a new piece of concept art from the film on the occasion of the launch of their new website.

Jean-Pierre Melville‘s film Le Cercle Rouge (aka The Red Circle) has been possible remake fodder for years. John Woo had his eye on it at one time (he’s long been a Melville devotee) and over the last couple of years it looked like Johnnie To was going to direct his own version. The ever-fruitful and edgy creative partnership between director David Cronenberg and actor Viggo Mortensen continues, with today’s announcement of a sequel to their captivating 2007 Russian mob film Eastern Promises. The pic above perfectly conveys our expectations. Deadline reports that producer Paul Webster is overseeing the project, which now has a completed script by Steve Knight, who penned the original and also wrote David Fincher’s planned Bobby Fischer biopic Pawn Sacrifice.
