It only took everyone a few decades, but Hollywood filmmakers finally seem to be embracing Donnie Yen. The Chinese superstar won hearts all over the world as blind warrior Chirrut Îmwe in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and he stole scenes in xXx: Return of Xander Cage. Now, someone outside of China is finally ready to put him center stage. That someone is producer Neal Moritz, who has cast Yen in the film adaptation of the video game Sleeping Dogs.

Following the acclaimed Zero Dark Thirty, the next project for director Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal was supposed to be Triple Frontier at Paramount Pictures. The project had been developing for years, but then Bigelow and Boal decided to focus on a film about Bowe Bergdahl, the US Army Sergeant captured by the Taliban and held for five years before being released in a controversial prisoner exchange in 2014.
Now Triple Frontier may have a new director. Margin Call, All is Lost, and A Most Violent Year helmer J.C. Chandor is in early talks to direct the film. After the long holiday weekend, it seems like Hollywood is back in full swing. Monday we had announcements of new projects for Mark Wahlberg, Halle Berry and Kevin Smith and Tuesday is more of the same. Though previously rumored, Tom Hanks has now been confirmed to star in Kathryn Bigelow’s follow-up to her Oscar-winning work in The Hurt Locker called Triple Frontier (or possibly Sleeping Dogs), Liam Neeson will star in An Ordinary Man from director Brad Silberling, Kirsten Dunst will hit the road with Hit Girl with the coming of age drama Hick and Mary J.
