This morning brought the cavalcade of nominations for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be handed out in September. Westworld was out in front with a whopping 22 nominations for its freshman season while other debut shows like This Is Us, as well as continuing shows like Veep and Saturday Night Live, also landed a surprising number of nods. But there are only so many slots for nominees and plenty of shows were snubbed by the Television Academy. Thankfully, it wasn’t all bad news though as there were some pleasant (sometimes goofy) surprises as well.

Guardians of the Galaxy was a pretty obscure comic before Marvel Studios introduced us to its heroes on the big screen, so for many of us, the first time we saw Rocket Raccoon and his tree-like friend Groot was in the movie as a pair of intergalactic bounty hunters. How did these versions of the characters meet? What kind of bounties did they score together before hooking up with Quill, Gamora, and Drax?

Baby Groot may be the star of the show in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but he won’t be a baby forever. And wait ’til you see him at his peak, Vin Diesel — forever his own best hype man — says.
According to Diesel, you haven’t seen nothing yet of Groot. In fact, the giant, hulking Groot we met in the first Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t even the final form of Groot. But we may see a “full-fledged” Groot soon.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy already have their own animated series on Disney XD, but last summer at Comic-Con we learned that the dynamic duo known of Rocket Raccoon and Groot would be getting their own web series, and it finally started unfolding this past weekend.
The first episode of Rocket & Groot debuted on the official Disney XD YouTube channel this past weekend, and it’s just the first of 12 total episodes that will be released n the coming weeks. Their adventure begins when their ship starts having some mechanical trouble, leaving them to look for spare parts on a junkyard. Instead, they discover a new ship, one that’s a little outside their price range.
