Long delayed sequels are practically flooding the cinemas right now, with Dumb and Dumber To still in theaters and the likes of Jurassic World and Terminator: Genisys on the horizon. And Pauly Shore, for one, hopes an Encino Man 2 will be part of that wave.

Showtime has acquired the independent documentary feature Pauly Shore Stands Alone about the life of a struggling and aging comedian. The Pauly Shore film was produced by a /Film reader and recently won Best Documentary Feature at the Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival, and is now set to premiere on the premium cable channel on December 4th 2014. Unlike some of Shore’s recent efforts, Pauly Shore Stands Alone is not a fake documentary or mockumentary and actually seems to be an interesting look at a comic trying to run back into the spotlight after his 15 minutes of fame had ended. Whenever something like Paul Blart: Mall Cop grosses $31 million in its opening weekend despite the disapproval of critics, a slew of articles and blog posts come out wondering whether movie writers are out of touch with the general public. But this weekend, at least, the average filmgoer and the average critic seemed united in their near-universal disdain for both the porn “comedy” Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star and the indie horror Creature.
Bucky Larson earned an impressive 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and averaged just over eight moviegoers per showing. Meanwhile, Creature, which received just 2 positive reviews out of the 18 counted on Rotten Tomatoes, managed to achieve the worst-ever opening for a film showing on more than 1,500 screens.
