The marketing campaign for Gareth Evans‘ The Raid 2 is off to a damn good start. The first teaser was light on plot but heavy on thrills, and the Indonesian trailer was a violent good time. Then there’s the fact that the first movie was pretty damn great, which really is the best advertisement of all for the sequel.
The new full-length trailer doesn’t disappoint, either. The follow-up picks back up with Iko Uwais‘ Rama, who’s now going undercover to protect his family and expose the bad guys. Naturally, this latest endeavor provides plentiful opportunities for both sides to kick, punch, shoot, stab, and beat the hell out of each other, in glorious fashion. Watch the video after the jump.

Gareth Evans‘ The Raid: Redemption seemed to come out of nowhere in 2011, but it quickly found a following thanks to its intense, inventive, and shockingly entertaining action sequences. Its follow-up, The Raid 2: Redemption, doesn’t have the luxury of taking us by surprise, but based on the first trailer that shouldn’t be a problem at all. Check it out after the jump.

Even for people who aren’t predisposed to love action films, Gareth Evans‘ The Raid earned a spot on many a 2012 top ten list. When Sony Pictures Classics picked up the film, the company also grabbed distribution rights to the planned sequel, The Raid: Berandal.
Casting details for the sequel hit before the new year, with Iko Uwais, star of the first film, set to appear again, alongside Julie Estelle (Macabre) as Hammer Girl, and Alex Abbad, Marsha Timothy, and silat fighter Cecep Arif Rahman playing an unknown but reportedly significant role.
Now Evans confirms that the sequel shoots very soon, and explains that the new film picks up right after the end of the first. Read More »
