The Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix has everyone talking, but don’t forget: there’s another Joker movie in the works. This film would be set within the current DC Extended Universe as we know it and feature Jared Leto‘s Joker and Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn. While this Joker/Harley movie hasn’t begun production yet, we now have an idea of what the film is about, thanks to writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. The screenwriting duo dropped some info about the prospective film, claiming it’s going to (somehow) play out like Bad Santa meets This Is Us. Read More »
Hot on the heels of yesterday’s surprising news that Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment were developing an origin movie for The Joker that would be directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) and produced by Martin Scorsese, yet another project featuring The Clown Prince of Crime has been revealed, and this time he’s bringing his Clown Princess with him.
A new report says Warner Bros. has tapped Crazy Stupid Love filmmaking duo Glenn Ficarra & John Requa to direct and write a film focusing on the criminally insane romance between The Joker and Harley Quinn. Unlike yesterday’s Joker origin movie, this one will take place within the DC Extended Universe, as it will star Jared Leto and Margot Robbie reprising their Suicide Squad roles as The Joker and Harley Quinn respectively. John Requa and Glenn Ficarra may tell the story of WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon. The directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love. and Whisky Tango Foxtrot are currently in talks to direct Pandemonium, a biopic that now has McMahon’s blessing. It’s unclear which part of his life Craig A. Williams‘ (Underdog) script focuses on, but it’s probably safe to assume it’s about how he turned World Wrestling Entertainment into the spectacle it became.

Scott Alexander and Larry Krzyzewski‘s biopics are typically great, stranger than fiction stories about artists. The duo behind Big Eyes, Man on the Moon, and Ed Wood normally don’t write about conventional figures, and that’s true for a new project they have in the works, King of the Jungle, which John Requa and Glenn Ficarra will direct, with Johnny Depp attached to star as John McAfee.
