This morning brought the cavalcade of nominations for the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be handed out in September. Westworld was out in front with a whopping 22 nominations for its freshman season while other debut shows like This Is Us, as well as continuing shows like Veep and Saturday Night Live, also landed a surprising number of nods. But there are only so many slots for nominees and plenty of shows were snubbed by the Television Academy. Thankfully, it wasn’t all bad news though as there were some pleasant (sometimes goofy) surprises as well.

Louis C.K. was on a panel for the FX comedy Baskets, which he produces with Zach Galifianakis. After the panel C.K. spoke with journalists further. He mentioned an animated series he is developing with Albert Brooks for FX, and gave a little bit of insight into what the show would be.
“We’re making a cartoon that’s basically me and Albert in our voices,” C.K. said. “We found we have a funny rhythm together. I don’t want to say anything about what the cartoon is about yet because it takes such a long time to get those things going.”

When two comedians like Louis C.K. and Zach Galifianakis team up for a new comedy series, you pay attention. And that’s exactly why you should watch the trailer for FX’s new comedy series Baskets.
In the series premiering later this month, Galifianakis plays a clown who flunked out of a prestigious clown school in Paris and ends up working a dead end job as a rodeo clown back home. But what’s interesting is that the series isn’t played up to be a goofy kind of comedy, and it has a vibe of something like Louie meets Man Seeking Woman.
