The Black Adam movie just got a new writer. Undateable creator Adam Sztykiel will pen the script for the upcoming DC film for New Line, which stars Dwayne Johnson as Shazam villain Black Adam. Whether or not Johnson’s character will also be appearing in the Shazam! film remains to be seen, but for now, the Black Adam solo film is moving forward side-by-side with Shazam!

Starting with The Hangover, Todd Phillips has turned into a new cash cow for Warner Bros., with the two Hangover movies and Road Trip cumulatively earning more than a billion dollars worldwide. (The Hangover films are responsible for the bulk of that gross.) Not bad for a guy who makes absurd comedies.
Now WB has renewed its first-look deal with Phillips and his company Green Hat Films. And while they work on The Hangover Part III and prepare for the release of the Phillips-produced Project X, there are four other films that are possible directorial follow-ups for Phillips. In 2005, Columbia Pictures acquired the film rights to Neil Strauss‘ bestselling pickup book The Game: Penetrating The Secret Society of Pickup Artists, and About A Boy director/screenwriter Chris Weitz was at one point attached to direct. The option expired, and rights returned to Strauss. Now Variety is reporting that Academy Award-winning USC grad Ari Sandel (West Bank Story) is in talks to direct the big screen adaptation for Lionsgate with Spyglass financing and Depth of Field producing. Due Date scribe Adam Sztykiel is rewriting Dan Weiss‘ script.
