"The Unlikely Murderer" is set to be released on Netflix on Friday, November 5. As is almost always the case with Netflix shows, all five episodes will be released at once for your binging pleasure.
What Is The Unlikely Murderer?
"The Unlikely Murderer" is a five-part Swedish language limited series based on the book of the same name by author Thomas Pettersson. It is a fictional interpretation of Stig Engström, who was the prime suspect in the murder of Sweden's prime minister Olof Palme. He eluded capture right up to his death, making for a unique story.
The Unlikely Murderer Director, Crew, and More
Wilhelm Behrman and Niklas Rockström ("Caliphate," "Before We Die") are handling scripting duties. Charlotte Brändström ("The Witcher," "Jupiter's Legacy") is on board as the conceptual director. The show is produced by FLX, the company behind Netflix's "Quicksand," as well as "Love & Anarchy."

Robert Gustafsson ("The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared"), is set to play Stig Engström in the series. The Unlikely Murderer is a fictional interpretation of how Stig Engström, the graphic designer who was named as the probable murderer of Sweden's prime minister Olof Palme, managed to elude justice right up to his death through a combination of audacity, luck and a perplexed police force. What do we know about Stig Engström? How could the police let him get away, despite being on his track? The murder was not planned well, Engström did everything wrong from the beginning and almost no one believed his lies about what he actually did during that fateful night 1986 in Stockholm, Sweden.
