'Justice League' Deleted Scene Storyboard Reveals Darkseid

Darkseid, a fan favorite DC big bad, failed to appear in Justice League. Instead, audiences were left with the giant cartoon that was Steppenwolf. But a newly surfaced storyboard reveals a Justice League deleted scene featuring Darkseid in all his glory. See it below.

Justice League wasn't the huge hit that Warner Bros. was hoping for, but here we are, still talking about it, so maybe they did something right. Screen Rant got their hands on a storyboard from the film that reveals a Justice League deleted scene. And not just any deleted scene, mind you, but a scene that featured frequent Justice League nemesis Darkseid. Here it is:Justice League deleted scene Darkseid

Whether or not this scene ever got beyond the storyboard stage is a mystery, but Screen Rant has confirmed this was originally part of the now-fabled Zack Snyder cut of the film.

Snyder's version of Justice League changed significantly when Joss Whedon was brought in to finish the film. Some of the frames in the storyboard will look to familiar to those who remember Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. They depict the wasteland that Batman dreamed about in the "Knightmare" sequence – remember, the dream sequence where Batman is wearing a duster over his costume for some reason? This likely means that particular Batman v. Superman sequence was directly addressed in Snyder's original script. You can also see the famous Justice League of America sign sticking out of the rubble.

Darkseid never had his big day in Justice League. Instead, we were stuck with Steppenwolf, a really boring villain who doesn't make much of an impression. I'm not saying throwing Darkseid into the film would've fixed things, but it might've helped. This storyboard is just one more piece in the ever-expanding puzzle that is the so-called "Snyder cut" of Justice League. While I doubt we'll ever get a full-blown Snyder cut of the film, since it's unlikely a finished cut even exists, it's clear that there is a wealth of deleted Justice League material we have yet to see.

The upcoming Justice League Blu-ray features a few deleted scenes revolving around Superman's return from the grave, but that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as deleted material goes. Early trailers for Justice League indicate that numerous scenes involving other members of the league ended up on the cutting room floor. Will they ever surface? I wouldn't be surprised if Warner Bros. releases a deluxe special edition Blu-ray one day containing more deleted scenes. Whether or not any of them feature Darkseid is another story.
