Contest: Win A 'Winchester' Poster Designed By Daniel Danger

Confession time: I don't handle ghost stories very well. I lost my damn mind during The Conjuring, and I still remember emerging into a dark and foggy street after seeing the first Paranormal Activity and being jumpy for a few hours.

But I may have to psyche myself into seeing Winchester, the new horror film starring Helen Mirren and Jason Clarke, when it comes out on Friday. In the meantime, we're hosting a giveaway of prints of an alternate poster for the movie that was designed by celebrated artist Daniel Danger, who's done some incredible work for companies like Mondo over the years. Take a look at the full poster and learn how to enter our Winchester giveaway below!

In case you've forgotten, here's a look at the latest trailer for Winchester:

The traditional posters for this movie are all...fine, I guess, but Danger's alternate design is far more original and evocative. Take a closer look at his full poster (click to enlarge):

If you zoom in, you really start to notice all the details Danger put into this piece: there are the floating ghosts, of course, and the gorgeous blue hues, but don't overlook the textures of the shingles, bricks, ladders, and ropes surrounding the house, reflecting its constant state of construction. Or the incredible line work in the path, the carriage, and even the horses in the bottom right. It's a great piece, and hopefully the movie ends up being worthy of it.

Entering the contest is simple. All you have to do is head down to the comments of this article and tell us your favorite haunted house movie and what you love about it. That's it! Our favorite five responses will win the poster prints. Good luck!

Here's Winchester's official synopsis:

Inspired by true events. On an isolated stretch of land 50 miles outside of San Francisco sits the most haunted house in the world. Built by Sarah Winchester, (Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren) heiress to the Winchester fortune, it is a house that knows no end. Constructed in an incessant twenty-four hour a day, seven day a week mania for decades, it stands seven stories tall and contains hundreds of rooms. To the outsider it looks like a monstrous monument to a disturbed woman's madness. But Sarah is not building for herself, for her niece (Sarah Snook) or for the troubled Doctor Eric Price (Jason Clarke) whom she has summoned to the house. She is building a prison, an asylum for hundreds of vengeful ghosts, and the most terrifying among them have a score to settle with the Winchesters...

Winchester hits theaters on February 2, 2018.
