'The Defenders' Trailer: The War For New York Is Here

The streetwise heroes of New York finally meet in the trailer for The Defenders, the miniseries that every Marvel-Netflix series has been building up to since Season 1 of Daredevil dropped in 2015.

Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand (Finn Jones), meet in a clash of fists and personalities, brought together by nurse Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) and Stick (Scott Glenn) to defend New York against The Hand and a mysterious villain played by Sigourney Weaver.

The trailer begins with an exciting homage to a scene from Brian Michael Bendis' Alias comic — where Jessica Jones made her comic book debut — in which Matt Murdock interrupts a police interrogation of Jessica, in this case by Luke Cage's Misty Knight, to declare that he's her lawyer.

The two are later joined by Luke Cage and Iron Fist, who are introduced by Claire — the night nurse who keeps running into these superpowered beings and is the unofficial connection between all the Marvel-Netflix series — who initially get into a brawl before they bond. Stick, Matt and Elektra's former mentor, rallies them together in the "war for New York," while Sigourney Weaver's mysterious villain Alexandra is introduced, shown in the trailer monologuing to the four Defenders.
