'Doctor Strange' Reveals New Photo; UK Release Date Moved Up [UPDATED]

With DeadpoolBatman v Superman: Dawn of JusticeCaptain America: Civil WarX-Men: Apocalypse, and Suicide Squad all in the rearview mirror, we've only got one major superhero movie left to go in 2016: Doctor Strange. And with the film's fall release date quickly approaching, we're getting more and more details on the mystical Marvel movie.

Today, we've got a new Doctor Strange photo featuring star Benedict Cumberbatch and his sweet Sanctum Sanctorum, plus new info on the Doctor Strange runtime and the Doctor Strange UK release date.

UPDATE: According to director Scott Derrickson, the reported runtime is incorrect. Original story follows.

Let's go one item at a time. First, the Marvel UK Twitter account announced that the film's UK release date has been pushed up by three days, from Friday, October 28 to Tuesday, October 25. It's not a massive change, but it's still good news for British Marvel fans eager to meet the franchise's latest hero.

Sadly, there's no good news here for American Marvel fans. The Doctor Strange US release date remains the same: it'll arrive here November 4, after the film has already opened in much of Asia, Europe, and other overseas markets.

One of the countries who'll get to see Doctor Strange before we do is Australia, where it arrives October 27. Theaters in the area have started prepping for the rollout, and a chain called Event Cinemas has apparently revealed the Doctor Strange runtime. According to their listing, the film clocks in at 130 minutes.

That's well within the normal range for these films — Doctor Strange is shorter than recent Marvel pics like Captain America: Civil War (147 minutes) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (141 minutes) but longer than last year's Ant-Man (117 minutes). And compared to this year's other major superhero blockbusters, Doctor Strange is right in the middle, with the quick and dirty Deadpool (108 minutes) and the butt-numbing Batman v Superman (151 minutes) on either end of the spectrum.

While you consider how to plan for Doctor Strange's 130-minute runtime, here's something else for you to mull over. The Marvel Russia Twitter account has shared the latest new photo of Cumberbatch in full costume as Strange. Okay, so it's not strikingly different from everything we've seen before. But it is a pleasant reminder that yes, this movie is coming; yes, Benedict Cumberbatch can rock the hell out of a superhero cape; and yes, that is a really nice window that you should try to recreate in your own home.
