Rumor: 'Daredevil' Season 2 Premiering Against 'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice'

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has already moved once to avoid a head-to-head battle with a Marvel Studios property, but now they might find themselves facing off against a different Marvel Studios property. A new report claims the second season of Daredevil will land on Netflix the exact same day Batman v Superman hits theaters, forcing geeks to pick a side in the great Marvel vs. DC war, once and for all. (Or, you know, to slightly adjust their weekend schedules to make room for both.) has heard from its sources that Daredevil season 2 will launch on Netflix March 25, 2016, which, again, is the same day Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters. To be clear, neither Marvel nor Netflix has confirmed the Daredevil season 2 release date yet, and until they do we cannot consider any of this to be 100% confirmed. Daredevil's first season premiered on April 10, 2015, so the second season is arriving just a tiny bit earlier.

Since Batman v Superman is a movie and Daredevil is a show, they aren't really in direct competition with one another. A few fans might opt to do one or the other, but it's unlikely this turn of events will make or break Batman v Superman's box office performance. Indeed, Batman v Superman might be the perfect way to break up a Daredevil binge, since it'll actually force you to put on some real pants and get some fresh air.

But the two franchises are definitely doing battle, and moving Daredevil's second season debut to coincide with Batman v Superman's theatrical bow is a smart way for Marvel to try and steal a bit of Warner Bros. / DC's thunder. It presents an opportunity for audiences to compare the two franchises side by side — and Marvel has the upper hand, at least for now. Daredevil has already established itself as a fan fave, while moviegoers are still waiting to see how Warner Bros.' burgeoning DC Extended Universe pans out.

The news comes after DC swerved to avoid an earlier Marvel vs. DC conflict. Batman v Superman was originally supposed to open July 17, 2015, but Warner Bros. delayed it to May 6, 2016, pitting it against Captain America: Civil War. For a while both sides insisted they weren't moving, but eventually Warner Bros. blinked and nudged Batman v Superman's release date up to March 25.
