Star Wars Bits: Constable Zuvio, Verizon's BB-8 Commercial, The Meaning Behind Episode 7's Secret Production Name And More
In today's edition of Star Wars Bits, we'll talk about the following:
All that and more. Hit the jump to hyperspace!
Empire Magazine gives us out first real look at Constable Zuvio, one of the new characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In August, an illustration of image leaked out as part of the first wave of Force Awakens toys, but now we get our first look at the character from a frame from the upcoming J.J. Abrams movie. At the time the only thing we knew about this new character was that he lives on Jakku where he "keeps order on a remote trading post." The official Star Wars databank has since revealed a more lengthy description of the character:
A vigilant law officer on a mostly lawless world, the tough and humorless Constable Zuvio keeps order in a frontier trading post.
Empire doesn't have any more information about Zuvio so we'll probably have to wait until the movie hits to learn how he fits into the story. One can easily assume that Rey encounters the Constable while trading some of the goods she has scavenged.
John Williams has apparently finished recording the score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. One of the technicians tweeted that the final day of the scoring session has ended.
Verizon has released a new television commercial featuring Chewbacca and BB-8 trying to escape a squad of First Order stormtroopers. I don't believe the footage in this commercial spot is from the new film, so feel free to enjoy spoiler-free.
An enhanced version of the 1992 Super Nintendo video game Super Star Wars is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this week. Here is the official information:
In its weekly PlayStation Store post, Sony announced that Super Star Wars will be available to purchase on both platforms from tomorrow, November 17th. The game includes cross-buy support, new save features, leaderboards, trophies, and updated display and controller options. Super Star Wars will also be included in the Star Wars Battlefront PlayStation 4 bundle—which also launches tomorrow—alongside Star Wars: Racer Revenge, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, and Star Wars Bounty Hunter. Sony has previously confirmed that all four games will be released separately, so expect to see the other three appear on the PlayStation Store in the coming weeks.
Entertainment Weekly includes a brief interview with actor Greg Grunberg, J.J. Abrams' childhood friend who has appeared in most of his movies and tv shows including the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here is an excerpt from the interview where Grunberg discusses the unexpected struggles of acting in a Star Wars movie:
J.J. caught me watching the movie. He's like, 'Cut! Cut.' He comes over to me he's like, 'Dude, you're watching the movie as I'm shooting the movie. You can't do that.'
Greg also reveals that the two saw A New Hope together as 12-year-olds:
We got dropped off and we saw it at the Avco theater which is why the code name for Star Wars when we were shooting it was Avco.
