'Wild Card' Trailer: Jason Statham Remakes The Other 'Heat'
Whatever you think of Jason Statham's movies, you can't deny that Jason Statham works hard. He typically has at least a couple movies per year, and next year he has three. The first is Wild Card, a remake of the 1986 Burt Reynolds-starrer Heat. (Not to be confused with the 1995 Michael Mann movie Heat or 2013's The Heat.)
Statham stars as a Las Vegas bodyguard who gets in hot water with a powerful mob boss. Michael Angarano, Sofia Vergara, Jason Alexander, Hope Davis, and Stanley Tucci also star. Watch the Wild Card trailer after the jump.

Wild Card has kind of an interesting history. It uses the same script as the original, which William Goldman (The Princess Bride, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) wrote based on his own novel. Apparently Goldman didn't love the 1986 adaptation and wanted a do-over. So it's not really a remake of the other film so much as it is a do-over of the screenplay.
Whether this new version will be any better remains to be seen, but at least that first Wild Card trailer is entertaining. Simon West is directing this one. He's worked with Statham several times before on The Expendables 2 and The Mechanic.
Wild Card will be in theaters January 30. If it's no good, there are two more Jason Statham movies coming in April (Furious 7) and May (Spy).
