Latest 'Batman V Superman' Rumors Tease Even More Villains

The announcement of the Suicide Squad cast and characters has shed even more light on what DC has planned for its Cinematic Universe. Namely, while there are lots of huge heroes getting movies, the studio won't be skimping on the villains, either. That roster of baddies will first be on display in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which opens March 25, 2016. We know the Zack Snyder film will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor. But a few new rumors not only hint at other major villains popping up in this film, they hint at connections tantalizing connections to the other films as well. Read the latest Batman v Superman rumors below.

The new Batman v Superman rumors come from Badass Digest. Beware that some of these, and one in particular, should be considered a potentially massive spoiler. If you are worried about that kind of thing, go away now. Trust me.

SPOILER WARNING

Here are the three big Batman v Superman claims made by Badass Digest:

  • Lex Luthor has a henchman named Anatoli Knyazev. This is the name of Batman bad guy KGBeast.
  • The Joker exists in the film, Superman knows about him, but he isn't seen.
  • Doomsday is in the film.

    • The piece also mentions that Luthor is searching for "metahumans," and knows about one in particular – Wonder Woman.

    We'll take these one at a time. The KGBeast rumor is one we reported on last month. It seems likely because Snyder doesn't have to turn the henchman into this super villain, but by putting him in there, he can if he wants, and it's a nice nod to fans.

    We now know the Joker will be in this universe and he'll be played by Jared Leto. If Batman is really an older character who has been around in this universe, it's likely he's already tangled with the Joker at some point. The character already existing makes sense. But Superman knowing about him? That seems weird. Maybe because he's a reporter, or perhaps because the Joker has already done things in public?

    Finally, Doomsday. This is also a rumor that's been floating around for a while, but which continues to become more likely with each passing mention. If there's a character that could necessitate the skills of both Batman and Superman, it's Doomsday. And there are some very interesting possible connections between the character and the film's main, confirmed, baddie – Lex Luthor.
