'World Of Warcraft: Looking For Group' Documentary Trailer
You don't have to be a gamer to know World of Warcraft is a big deal. Since its creation in 2004, it's become a bona fide phenomenon. World of Warcraft is the most popular MMORPG in the world with over 10 million subscribers, as well as the highest-grossing video game of all time with over $10 billion in sales. And for its most diehard devotees, World of Warcraft is no mere video game but a community, a culture, and a way of life.
The new documentary World of Warcraft: Looking for Group explores how a simple online fantasy game became what it did. Through interviews with the game creators at Blizzard Entertainment and with players themselves, World of Warcraft: Looking for Group looks at the origins and history of the game, as well as the fandom surrounding it. The World of Warcraft Looking for Group documentary trailer debuted on the official World of Warcraft channel.
Per the official synopsis, World of Warcraft: Looking for Group "celebrate[s] 10 years of adventure, camaraderie, and /dancing on mailboxes all around Azeroth" and "journeys into corners of Blizzard and the WoW community you've never seen before."
The timing on the documentary couldn't be better. This month marks the tenth anniversary of World of Warcraft — which itself was released on the tenth anniversary of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, which kickstarted the entire Warcraft franchise. And November 13 brings the release of the latest expansion, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.
World of Warcraft: Looking for Group will debut November 8, on the final day of this year's BlizzCon. But if you can't make it in person, don't despair. The premiere will also be streamed online for free at BlizzCon.com and on YouTube.com starting at 5 PM Pacific time.
And yes, this is one of two Warcraft-based movies coming up. The big-budget narrative feature adaptation directed by Duncan Jones opens in spring 2016.
