'Inception'-Inspired Board Game Is A Dream Come True

If you walked out of Inception wishing you could spend a little more time in Christopher Nolan's lush sci-fi world, a new (unofficial) Inception board game could be just the thing to make your dreams come true.

Created by Bruno Gervasi and Reid Cuddy, Inceptor unfolds pretty much like the inceptions from the movie — only players roll dice and collect cards to manipulate the Mark, instead of injecting mind-bending chemicals and plugging in futuristic technology. Learn more about it after the jump.

$59 is enough to get you Inceptor, while $110 gets you the Inception board game in a metal briefcase with personalized engraving. That's not too shabby, considering that the special collector's item version of the Blu-ray, which also comes in a briefcase, has a sticker price of $150.

And there's no need to worry that Warner Bros. will shut the whole thing down. "Although the game is not licensed by Warner Brothers, their response to us indicated that they had no objections to us creating the game," write the Inceptor creators.

Here's the basic premise, if you'd rather have it in writing:

Inceptor is a board game that takes place in the dream world. The board represents the inside of a dreamer's mind, who is known as the Mark. Each player is trying to plant an idea in the Mark's dream, hoping that when he wakes, he will carry out their chosen task. The key is to make your task seem achievable to the Mark and to make sure he believes it was his own idea from its inception. In order to do this the dream needs to be so real, that when the Mark wakes up, the planted idea sticks and he performs the mission without a second thought.
