See How The Film Restoration Process Works At The Criterion Collection

If you've watched all the supplements on several Criterion releases over the past decade or so, you've no doubt seen some short pieces on how the company's film restoration process works. But methods always change, and the Criterion workflow changes with new technology. One of the label's latest releases is Alfred Hitchcock's Foreign Correspondent, available this week. A new short doc looks at how Criterion went back to the original film negative, which was in unusually good shape, and created a new Blu-ray release from it.

Gizmodo visited the Criterion offices and spoke to a few of the people who work on restoration tasks for each of the label's releases. See the result of their visit below.
