New 'Elysium' Poster And Featurettes Detail Neill Blomkamp's New Vision
Is Matt Damon saving the world in Elysium via action and violence, or social networking? The new poster for the upcoming film from Neill Blomkamp features Damon's face overlaid with text that seems very much inspired by the marketing for The Social Network.
See that poster below. In addition to that image, we've got three featurettes that explore the world of the film — both of the trash-littered Earth and the gleaming colony for the rich that orbits above. There's also a clip that expands on one scene already seen briefly in trailers. All together, the videos will give you a pretty detailed portrait of the film.
The new poster is on the left in this gallery, while the recent Mondo poster for the movie is on the right, in case you didn't see it during Comic Con.
Finally, here's a clip, via Yahoo:
Elysium opens August 9.
In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet's crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens' luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance bring equality to these worlds is Max, an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium's Secretary Delacourt and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.
