Marvel And Disney Release Info: 'Ant-Man' Gets Official Release Date, 'Iron Man 3' And 'Thor: The Dark World' Will Be 3D

Edgar Wright's Ant-Man will be released November 6, 2015. That's the biggest news coming from Disney this morning as they've released an update to their schedule. They also confirm that Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World will be in 3D, a new Pixar movie will be released on November 25, 2015 and the Tom Hanks film Saving Mr. Banks will be released December 20, 2013.   • IRON MAN 3 will now be available in 3D – previously announced 5/3/13 wide playdate is unchanged (Marvel)
  • PHINEAS AND FERB moves to "2014 Undated Wide" (from 7/28/13 wide)
  • THOR: THE DARK WORLD is final title of previous "Thor 2" and will now be available in 3D – previously announced 11/8/13 wide playdate is unchanged (Marvel)
  • SAVING MR. BANKS is now dated on 12/20/13 wide (Disney)
  • CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is final title of previous "Captain America 2" – previously announced 4/4/14 wide playdate is unchanged (Marvel)
  • BEARS is now dated on 4/18/14 wide (Disneynature)
  • GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is final title of previous "Marvel Untitled" – previously announced 8/1/14 is unchanged (Marvel)
  • DISNEY ANIMATION UNTITLED is now dated on 11/7/14 wide
  • ANT-MAN is now dated on 11/6/15 wide (Marvel)
  • PIXAR ANIMATION UNTITLED is now dated on Wed 11/25/15 wide

    • Ant-Man is definitely the biggest news here, confirming not only that it'll be the first film of Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three, but Phase Three will start in the same year as The Avengers 2 (scheduled for release May 1, 2015, and noticeably absent from the above press release). It also closes the loop, as it were, on Phase 2. We'll be getting the one new film – Guardians of the Galaxy – and three sequels, two of which will be in 3D. That's not to say Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians won't be in 3D, they just haven't started shooting yet.

    Everything else here is pretty standard except the untitled Disney films. In 2013, Disney is releasing Frozen but I don't believe we have much of an inkling of what their 2014 film will be yet. As for Pixar, odds are the 2015 film will be Lee Unkrich's Día de los Muertos film.
