'Thor: The Dark World' Adds Supporting Actors From 'Batman Begins' And 'Game Of Thrones'
Thor: The Dark World will be the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two when it hits theaters on November 8, 2013. Director Alan Taylor has been shooting for several weeks now with a cast including newcomers Christopher Eccleston as the main villain Malekith, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in a dual role and many others along with returning cast members Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and the rest.
It's still very early in production though, early enough that casting is still ongoing. Richard Brake, best known for playing the murderous Joe Chill in Batman Begins, has been cast Thor's older brother Tyr and Clive Russell, who will play Ser Brynden the Blackfish in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, is a captain in Thor's Einherjar fighting force.
Deadline broke the news of the casting. There's no word on exactly how large each role is but, the fact each was cast while filming has already commenced, suggests each role is fairly small.
Tyr is Thor's full brother, unlike Loki, and is the Asgardian God of War. Russell's role doesn't have a name, as of yet, but he's reportedly a captain in the Einherjar, a group of warriors who fight alongside Thor. You'd imagine each of these actors has an important role to play even if it doesn't include a lot of screen time. And I'm predicting at least one of them doesn't make it through the end credits.
Are you a fan of either of these actors? Do you think their roles will be significant? How will they play into the story of The Dark World?
