New Trailer For 'Drew: The Man Behind The Poster'

Two years have passed since we first posted a clip for Drew: The Man Behind The Poster, a documentary about legendary poster artist Drew Struzan. Director Erik P. Sharkey has finally completed the film and had a full panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend to discuss it. During the panel, Struzan answered lots of questions about his process, posters, influences and other topics. A new trailer from the film also premiered and it'll make you want to watch the movie, right now. Check it out below along with a few additional thoughts on his retirement or lack thereof.

Here's the brand new trailer for Drew: The Man Behind The Poster.

That's some line up of people, no? Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Frank Darabont, Michael J. Fox, Guillermo Del Toro, Thomas Jane, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. In that trailer you see the first time Struzan ever met Ford, which is great, plus the trip to Lucasfilm, Struzan posing as Indiana Jones, and some phenomenal quotes.

There's no word on when or where we'll be able to see the full film yet, but when that information become available, we'll let you know.

Also – on the topic of Struzan – last week I ran an article that said the master artist was going to be coming out of retirement to make posters for Mondo. You can read that full article here. The article was indirectly brought up during the panel and Struzan didn't deny the claims, just said he wasn't coming out of retirement. Tuesday, he released a full statement to this effect, which has been added to my original piece.

It's a matter of semantics. As the movie will obviously show, even when he officially retired in 2008, Struzan never stopped making art. He did a few movie posters, lots of personal pieces, and he'll do pieces that are not "commissioned" by Mondo, but pieces of his choosing which Mondo will likely release. Head to the article to read that.

It's all about the love of Struzan though. Not only will we be seeing more and more of his art, we get this movie too – which looks great.
