Casting Notes: Megan Fox In 'Friends With Kids'; Clark Gregg In 'Mr. Popper's Penguins'; Johnny Galecki In Andrew Niccol's Next

In her first big hire since Michael Bay decided not to ask her to return for Transformers 3, Megan Fox has scored a new gig. She'll be in Jennifer Westfeldt's film Friends With Kids, which stars Westfeldt's partner Jon Hamm.

The film also features Adam Scott and Kristen Wiig, and we now know that it "revolves around a pair of thirtysomething best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then date other people." Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt will be one couple, Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig another, and Megan Fox will be a woman Mr. Scott's character dates.

After the break, Andrew Niccol's next gets another cast member, and Mr. Popper's Penguins gets two.

The adaptation of kids' book Mr. Popper's Penguins is shooting now for an August 12 2011 release date. The film just added James Tupper and Clark Gregg to the cast, which already included Jim Carrey and Carla Gugino in the lead roles.

Mr. Carrey plays a wealthy businessman who inherits six penguins, which " completely disrupt his life and swanky New York apartment." Mr. Tupper will play the "eco-fanatic" boyfriend of the character's ex-wife, played by Carla Gugino. Clarg Gregg will play an employee of the New York Zoo. Sean Anders, John Morris and Nick Stoller adapted the book by Richard and Florence Atwater (and made quite a few changes along the way) and Mark Waters (Mean Girls) directs. [THR]

Finally, Johnny Galecki, once known as the boyfriend of Darlene on Roseanne and now a part of the cast of The Big Bang Theory, has been added to the cast of Andrew Niccol's new sci-fi film. The project was formerly called I'm.mortal, but that title was ditched not long ago.

Mr. Galecki joins Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy and Olivia Wilde (among others) in a tale of a society in which time is effectively currency, and living beyond twenty-five one has to either buy or steal time. Justin Timberlake is accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time, and goes on the run with Amanda Seyfried as a hostage as he's pursued by Cillian Murphy. Johhny Galecki will be best friend to Mr. Timberlake's character. [Deadline]
