'Captain America' Set Photos Show High-Tech Sub And More Chase Action

NO PHOTO

Here's your idle question of the day: are these pics of a sub from the set of Captain America: The First Avenger depicting a bit of tech that will be in use by the good guys, or is it a deadly device created by Hydra? Based on the design, I'd guess the latter. (It looks rather like the Hydra motorcycles we saw in photos a few weeks back.)

See a slightly larger image after the break, as well as a couple new action shots and a bit of video showing Chris Evans in mid-chase through '40s New York.

The Liverpool Post has the images, but only tells that they were snapped at a dock dressed out to look like it is located in 1940s New York.

There's also some more video of additional shooting from the chase sequence we caught a glimpse of a few days back. This video isn't all that impressive, but I do love seeing a whole street go into motion when 'action' is called. That's one of the beautiful things about being on set — seeing that clockwork instantly kick into motion — so the short video is worth a look for that aspect alone.

Under the embed are a pair of new shots also from the same shooting sequence in Manchester. One is another shot of the seriously jacked Chris Evans, still out of the Captain America costume. The other is a shot of stunt people in action; again notice the protective rubber 'feet' we saw in the last action shots. Those are from The Daily Mail via Rope of Silicon.

Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, The Wolf Man) is directing the film now. Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Neal McDonough and Stanley Tucci. The film is set to release on July 22, 2011.
