Inception Teaser Trailer #2

By now, you may have already read my incoherent description of the new trailer for Christopher Nolan's Inception, and perhaps seen the French/International version of it. Those who watched Sherlock Holmes this past weekend may have caught the real deal.

The official trailer has finally surfaced online and it is pretty damn spectacular. Note that it's essentially the same as the French version, only in English. Head on over to Apple to see the trailer in HD. Hit the jump to see the trailer and, as always, leave your thoughts in the comments below.

In my mind, this teaser trailer does what any good teaser trailer should: Bombard you with a bunch of images, sounds, and voiceover that are barely comprehensible but undeniably cool. The only difference is that with Nolan at the helm, said bombardment is a lot more enigmatic than one would expect from a normal teaser. If you just can't resist learning more about the plot, you can go here for some potentially spoilerish details.

One question that lingers is whether or not this film will be a hit with mainstream audiences. Nolan's smaller, cerebral thrillers with big names (e.g. Insomnia, The Prestige) have typically performed respectably, but not spectacularly; Insomnia only took in $67 domestic while The Prestige walked away with $53 million. As I wrote in my previous trailer description, the audience I saw this with was audibly unimpressed. Will "From the Director of The Dark Knight" draw more people this time around to a film that might not be as accessible as a film starring the caped crusader? Time will tell, but let me know what you guys think.
