Kristen Kreuk Is Chun-Li In Street Fighter
I've never been a monster of the week type of guy, and always found that format to be quite dull, but somehow I got sucked into watching Smallville, not because it was a good show, but mostly due to the inside superman references. But I began to enjoy the series somewhere between season 1 and season 3. And then, as we all know, the series went down hill with unpredictably bad sci-fi storylines involving past lives and what not. I stopped watching Smallville probably two seasons ago because it just became too much. My like for some of the characters (like Chloe) was overshadowed by the horrible storylines.
One of my huge pet peeves in movies and television is when a woman who doesn't look like she could hurt a fly, all of a sudden becomes a bad ass fighting machine. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Women can't kick ass. Heck, I liked Alias. I just don't like movies or television shows where they take a skinny young actress and put her on wires. I hold on to a thing called believability. And this was one of the things that turned me off to Smallville. Kristen Kreuk somehow became a supernatural version of The Bride from Kill Bill. She looked so stupid flying through the air, and I felt bad for her. Kreuk is very good with the dramatic scenes, and is an actress who shows her emotions through her eyes.
So why, WHY, WHY has Kristen Kreuk been cast as Chun-Li in the new live-action Street Fighter movie?! Sure, she looks like the part, but I'm just not sold on Kreuk as an action star. And I don't really have faith that director Andrzej Bartkowiak, who also did Doom and Exit Wounds, will really be able to elevate her game.) The new movie titled Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, revolves around the Chun-Li character, unlike the original Street Fighter film which was an ensemble story (and a bad one at that). Production begins in March 2008.
