Katzenberg Doesn't Expect Shrek The Third To Break Records
Before every movie release, the studio usually likes to low ball their estimates just in case the film doesn't preform as well as they actually believe it will. So it doesn't really come as a shock that Shrek the Third producer David Katzenberg is downplaying the box office predictions. What does surprise us is how unconfident he seems in the following quote:
"I just caution everybody: for Shrek it's not where we start, it's where we finish," Katzenberg told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival. "I hope we have a very, very good weekend, but I don't expect us to set any records."
Meanwhile, most industry analysts expect the film do do anywhere from $100 to $120 million in it's first weekend, below most if not all of the records.
