Steven Speilberg's Stolen Norman Rockwell Painting
A Norman Rockwell painting stolen more than three decades ago was found in the possession of super director Steven Speilberg. Explain this one Stevie!
Actually, as it turns out, the Academy Award winning filmmaker acquired the painting legally. Spielberg realized the painting was stolen property after seeing an FBI posting.
Rockwell's "Russian Schoolroom," which art dealers say could be worth as much as $700,000 today, was stolen from a St. Louis gallery in 1973. Spielberg purchased the 16-by-37-inch oil-on-canvas painting which depicts children in a classroom with a bust of Lenin, from a legitimate dealer in 1989.
