tarantino_looks_at_you

Let’s get this daftness out of the way first: The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp., is reporting that Quentin Tarantino wants to cast Helen Mirren as a foul-mouthed queen in a medieval-era project. Really, The Sun? What on earth inspired that story, I do not know. Not that I wouldn’t like to see such a film, mind.

Elsewhere in awful British news rags, The Daily Mail have unveiled Tarantino’s (current) Top 11 Films of 2009, an update on the Top 8 films he offered at the tail end of the year.

Here they are:

  • Avatar
  • Star Trek
  • Drag Me To Hell
  • Funny People
  • Zombieland
  • Chocolate
  • Observe and Report (Bamigboye transcribed this as Observing the Fort!)
  • The Hurt Locker
  • Julie And Julia
  • Up In The Air
  • District 9

Hard to argue that any of those are duds, I think most of you will agree. He’s not just added three films, however – there’s been quite a bit of rejigging going on. Personally, I was most pleased to see Julie and Julia on the list because it’s excellent and, alongside Drag Me to Hell, the film on his list that made my top 10 too.
