Fist Fight Trailer - Ice Cube

Most movies about teachers are meant to be inspirational in some way. Some new teacher comes in and has to figure out how to reach some troubled youth. But every now and then comes a comedy that just lets the people who get paid far too little to deal with far too much bullshit cut loose. Fist Fight is trying to be one of those comedies.

In one of the most peculiar comedy match-ups, Ice Cube and Charlie Day star in this comedy about two teachers who are about to come to blows. After high school English teacher Mr. Campbell (Day) crosses his rough and tough colleague Mr. Strickland (Cube), it results in the latter teacher being fired. So the only logical thing to do is for Mr. Strickland to challenge Mr. Campbell to a fight in the parking lot. And this fight isn’t the only inappropriate thing about to happen on school grounds. You’ll see what I mean when when you watch the Fist Fight red band trailer. Read More »

Fist Fight trailer: Ice Cube and Charlie Day

Why should teenagers get to be the only ones embroiled in high school drama? In Fist Fight, the battle is between two teachers. Mr. Campbell is your typical Charlie Day character, which is to say (as Kumail Nanjiani puts it in the trailer) he is “probably a nice guy, but a bit of a worm and a sneak.” And Mr. Strickland is your typical Ice Cube character, which is to say he’s got a “scary but effective” reputation as a hothead. When a conflict between them escalates to the point of physical violence, everyone in school — from the teachers to the students — gets invested.

Fist Fight is the feature directing debut of Richie Keen (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and features a top-notch comedic cast including Jillian Bell and Tracy Morgan. And unlike a lot of comedy trailers we’ve seen lately, this one looks like it might actually live up to the potential of the talent involved. Watch the Fist Fight trailer below. Read More »

Maybe I’m a man of simple pleasures, but I find it impossible to hate the trailer for any movie that features Charlie Day doing an old-timey boxer pose. So I certainly don’t hate the Fist Fight trailer, which looks silly and lowbrow and dumb, but also…maybe funny? I see a lot of funny people in this footage, so this is a situation where I’m fully prepared to keep my fingers crossed.
